Common Names
  • Eastern Ringed Xenica
  • Ringed Xenica
  • Southern Ringed Xenica

Easy to miss amongst larger numbers of Common Brown butterflies, the male Ringed Xenica is slightly smaller, a little more vivid in colour, and usually found in gullies and around shady banks.

The underwing is very distinctive but the upperside is easy to confuse with the Common Browns.
